I dunno about this! So out in the open, so unprotected, so desolate looking! You are a brave man, JM! Did you have weapons with you? Are there crocs in that water?

It's a pretty shot. I think I'd rather stay at the Hilton! :-)

@Jacob: Actually, this lake houses the biggest colony of crocs in Kenya, but they are not exactly at this place. We even went for a swim at night, we were only asked to make a lot of noise to keep animals away... :-) We didn't have guns but we were under the protection of the Turkana people as this is their land, so we knew there was always a very experienced eye watching us. It might look like a desolate area but all this volcanic region is truly fascinating - so mysterious and definitely wild! Totally different from other places I've been to.

Lovely spot but I am not sure I would have been brave enough to swim there. Crocs are so quick and can appear from nowhere! Diane

Jacob is a wuss. :-D ...but admittedly the thought of wild life also came to my mind. Still, I'd be there in a flash if I could, swimming and all.
