In Search of the Manatee

Tortuguero National Park, Costa Rica
Unfortunatelly air bubbles coming from the bottom was all I have seen, no manatee came to breath at the surface near the boat... I would only spot these cuties a couple of years later in Belize.

You may not have seen a sea cow, but this is an incredibly beautiful photograph! We have lots of manatees in Florida...unfortunately, a lot of them get killed every year because of careless boaters running them down!

It's a beautiful picture. The perspective really takes your eye near and far.

Were the manatees holding their breath, waiting for the tourists to give up?
But it's still a peaceful and beautiful picture.

Well, if you didn't see a manatee, you at least got a nice photo.

Great reflection and I like the lush green jungle.

The narrowing perspective is the crowning glory to your reflection on the river, Jose. Such a lush photograph.

The reflection is so amazingly clear. I love your low angle. Just looking at the river and jungle here makes my heart pound. Gorgeous photo, JM.

Though not here, I'm glad you eventually saw a manatee.

I don't even know what a manatee is.

I am guessing you were on a boat when you shot this wonderful scene.... and you would have been quietly sitting there for some time looking for the manatee that never showed... not a ripple on the water! I was in Costa Rica in '72, long before I was into cameras. Time to go back maybe.
