A real beauty JM... I was born in South Africa in the 1950's. One of my earliest memories (I was now in the UK) was visiting the house of a couple that had been out there with my parents. They had a great big egg on display and I was amazed by it's size. My interest of birds and a need to know more about them had just been inspired by the Ostrich.
Sadly, I've seen quite a few ostrich farms in SoCal. I can't imagine wanting to eat such a lovely and quirky creature who means no one or nothing any harm. I'm glad these ones are safe. Great profile in an amazing setting!

Great Ostrich, I have never seen a black one before. Our birds here in Australia are escapees from captivity and a brownish colour.
