Lions And Men

Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania

I guess you can tell how hot it was. Three more lions were laying in the shade of our car and here is one of them.

This is amazing. We were there in February, when the grasses were high, green & golden, it was cooler, but the tall grasses obscured the view of the lions.

and i assume you could not move until they left so you must have been there quite awhile. very cool.

It is always best, if you have to get near lions, to have lethargic lions. And I'm not lying!

Fantastic image! Yikes!

They must be well-fed! What an adventure! I would SO be there, if I could!

Happy New Year!

The lion by the back wheel appears to have been run over. Just the angle of the shot, I guess.
Remind me not to go there in December. TOO hot. But it is an area I've always dreamed of visiting, but a long way from Canada.
All the best for 2011.

WoW! How incredible it must have been to be so close to such a wild animal... incredibly scary, too! WoW!

I thought I was adventurous, but this looks a bit too close and too hot for comfort. If those big lions are too hot to pay you any mind, I can't imagine you were feeling cool either!

Great shots...the wild cats are so cute...but also dangerous.

Humans, like the lions, prefer to be in a group, not off wandering around alone but sharing life together in communities. I like the way you show how much we have in common with the animal kingdom, how much personality animals do possess, and how much we actually have inherited from them.
