We saw these birds down in Tierra del Fuego. There are not many predators down there for them. That is a problem because they imported Canadian beavers many years ago thinking a fur industry could be started, and the beavers are chewing down the forests because there are no predators for them.

We have another trip down there planned in the future, this time on the Chile side.

Dave, I'm glad you mentioned the beavers as I took a shot at a beaver dam there that will fit in this blog. Thanks! :-)

I would love to see South America but I cannot see me ever getting there now. Once fully retired we will only be able to afford to holiday locally by car!! I have to live on my memories of earlier travels:-) Diane

Gorgeous, gorgeous photo! The color, the contrast between the background and the geese.

I just want to dive right in and walk around!

That's a different type of geese (or at least a different color) than I've seen before. It appears they are taking stock of you to see whether they need to flee or fight! I've had geese chase me and bite me so I know they will fight!

Another great photo in the wild!

I first learned about Tierra del Fuego in grade school. I just now stopped to realize what that translates to: land of fire. Such a remote place.

Those geese have beautifully patterned plumage and looks like they have an idyllic location to live.

They look so proud, almost majestic. Taking true ownership of their rightful place in that dense green forest.

He seems to be giving you the beady eye Jose. I hope he didn't chase you? LOL!!

These are definitely different from any geese I've ever seen... and so elegant. Gorgeous coloration.
