How do you know she wounded, JM? From her gait? Her coloration is exquisite... rich browns, rusty orange, dry tan... Beautifully captured, as usual.

Francisca, the injury is visible on the body next to the elephant's back leg.

Maybe I need stronger glasses, JM. I enlarged it again, but I still don't see a clear wound. :-(

Sad. Must have been difficult to watxh him passing without being able to do whatsoever to help his pain.

Sad. The wrinkly skin on elephants reminds me of aging human skin.

Gorgeous! I find elephants wise and completely serene.

Sorry I haven't visited sooner. But many thanks for visiting Norwich Daily Photo and leaving your comment. Come visit again tomorrow!

I see the discolored spot though I wouldn't have know it was a wound. Poor thing. Stunning photo as usual.

How thrilling to see these noble creations in their actual habitat. I wish I knew what they knew, their secrets. Beautifully done.

Quite a gash it has there Jose and I can only guess at what caused it or when it got it. I love the view of the open plains.

When we were in Ngorongoro Crater, we saw a solitary elephant without a herd. Our guide explained that it was an old elephant preparing to die. It was limited to an area near a lake where there were soft grasses because elephants usually die when they lose their last set of teeth and can no longer chew enough of the huge intake of grasses that they need.
