Pink Flamingo

Salt Lake Magadi at the Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania
Two or three million years ago a giant volcano exploded and collapsed on itself forming this huge crater (260 km2/100 sq mi) which is 610 m (2,000 ft) deep.

flamingos are such elegant and beautiful birds!
Have heard that the pink increases with a certain kind of food (forgot what, or course:) )

That's a mile deep! Yikes! Some people think I was living then and should know all about it, but I was not alive then! Sheesh!

What a pair of absolutely gorgeous photos. I've seen that many flamingos but only at Flamingo Gardens in Miami.

The second shot is so rich in color and offers such stunning contrasts - very well done, JM!

Beautiful! Would love to be there to see the flamingos myself. Great shots! The black clouds look like a flock of raggedy birds racing across the sky!

Incredible JM. Lake Magadi is two thousand feet deep?! From Tanzania the Seychelles are just a short hop relativly speaking. I had a good mind to go there when I was in Africa back in the early '70's but didn't. What a mistake judging by your photos.

@Springman: It's a shallow lake, the crater is 2,000 feet deep. Sorry if I didn't make myself clear, I've just rewrote it. :-)
