Everyday visitors

Placencia, Belize
On the last day of our stay we spotted one of these guys unashamedly walking on our bungallow ceiling, but he was faster than me with the camera! :-)

Oh how that last picture reminds me of my efforts too Jose. LOL!!

What wonderful lizards. I wonder if the second one has some zebra blood in it with those stripes? :)

That's great camouflage on the iguana. My wife clicked on my bookmark for your blog and is now pushing to do more travel. ;-)

Very funny. Iguanas can run very fast. There are many of them on our daughter's property in South Florida, but I've had a heck of a time getting close enough to get a good photo!

Are these really iguanas? They look quite different from ones I have seen. Whatever kind of lizard they are, they are a lot bigger than the sweet little geckos we have living with us. Can't seem to catch them in a good light either. Your [two] shots of them are great.

@Francisca: These are young iguanas, therefore they still have the 'lizard look'.

@Jim.... shows you what I know about iguanas: not much! :-D

@Francisca: LOL! I don't know much either... :-)

Hi JM,

Once again I'm captivated and awestruck by the depth and breadth of your subject matter and locations. One blog just can't contain it all. I'm enjoying being an armchair tourist though!

I loved Placencia, but did not see iguanas. I learned something about them today in the comments :) Where did you stay there? The palm thatch photo is terrific.

@Tapirgal: I stayed at the 'Turtle Inn'.
